I can't come up with a coherent top 10 list, and in the end top 10 lists are weird because it implies that people actually give a fuck what i listened to. and i don't see why anybody should care.
so instead of all that, i'm going to write down some fun facts as a quick "note to future gabe, this is what you thought december 2005".
-i enjoyed albums by: eluvium, wolf parade, dangerdoom, antony, barr, xiu xiu, prurient, smog, sigur ros, mt. eerie, explosions in the sky, and a bunch of other really predictable shit....
-my favorite song this year was the first song off that Stars album.
-i realized how awesome the gza is. "liquid swords" kicked my ass.
-i spent a ridiculous amount of money on magnetic fields shit. money well spent.
-clap your hands and say yeah are good, but not that good.
- "not for all the tea in china" is probably one of the coolest bootlegs ever. well worth $18
-i missed the last RFTC show.
i think that's it for my year in music. i'm sure i'll remember something. and have to repost.

i had completely forgotten how awesome that song from White Town was. I looked for the cd at amoeba last time i was there, but i guess it's out of print. amazing because i think it sold a ton of copies when kroq was playing it back in the 90's.
aside from that, tomorrow is the last day of the work week marathon. I think it helped me get more comfortable around my co-workers, which is really cool, because they are great people. needless to say i will be very happy to go for a nice relaxing bike ride on monday.
the cold weather is nice. i love drastic temperature changes...i think i one day want to live somewhere where the seasons are more present.

New Foot Foot Album (OED006) |
] |
Start: My House (Torrance) Destination: CSUDH (Carson) End: My House (Torrance) Distance: 7.76 Miles each way (15.52) Time: 40 Min/50 min.
After skipping my poetry class to be lazy all day and watch arrested development, I figured i should ride to school for my last class. The ride there proved to be awesome, the street lights were all green, the cars were being courteous. I made it school a little ahead of time.
The ride home started off pretty awesome. The night wasn't too cold yet, and the first stretch on Victoria has virtually no stop lights. After that the ride got a bit difficult because I kept getting red lights, therefore losing momentum. It ended up taking me 10-15 more to get home with virtually no traffic. I think a big factor is the fact that at a lot of stop lights I was making left turns alone, therefore no cars to set off the sensors. The added weight of an extra couple of books in my bag and on my rack didn't help either. It still proved a pretty cool ride. The last stretch on maple was smooth and quick from the court house to my house. My new head light is also really great, worth the money.

Start: My House (Torrance) End: Fingerprints Records (Long Beach) Distance : 16.2 Miles (www.bikemetro.com) Time: 1 hr. 28 min.
comments: I left my house a little later than I had expected. But somewhere around 9:45 with my bag full of water, change of shirt, wallet, phone, and more water I was off on my journey.
The trip down Sepulveda went as smooth as expected, and as soon as it became Willow the area became pretty industrial. I came upon a bridge that looked pretty steep and feared i might have to walk up it. Luckily I built up enough momentum that the incline wasn't nearly as bad as expected and I was able to go climb it with no problem.
When I reached the bridge that crossed the 710 freeway I stopped to call Ivy. Suddenly a strange bum on a bike holding a golf club (putter if i remember correctly) asked me if I had seen his bike that had been stolen. I quickly told him I wasn't from the Long Beach Area and got back on the phone. I crossed the bridge and got on the L.A. River bike path to head downtown. The route was EXTREMELY smooth aside from a cholo having to hold his pit bull back and seeing a junkie or two. I got off in the marina section of LB and headed towards Pine. I went up Pine to Ocean, made a right, and was outside of fingerprints within 12 minutes.
all in all it was a spectacular ride, and the distance was nowhere near as grueling as I thought it would be. All in all, I managed to keep myself hydrated, my ass sore-less, and my momentum up. a wonderful time to be alive!

The Show tonight was magnificent. we raised $245 for the Unicef Sudan Relief Fund. That may not sound like a lot, but it's something that can help people who are in need.
Hopefully I'll have another show like this soon. I'll give everyone a good advanced warning, so you'll have NO EXCUSE not to go.
special thanks go out to Moth Dracula, This Song is a Mess..., BARR, Bobby Birdman, and a Special thanks to Jim from the Smell.

I am currently infatuated with: 1. !!!'s rendition of the magnetic fields "take ecstasy with me" 2.the hello astronaut, goodbye television song on the Treasure tropics 7".
Summer is great, summer is wonderful, summer is full of kisses and bike rides, records and books.
Oedipus has a new 7" coming out in the next 2 weeks, This Song is a Mess/Barr. it's going to be awesome.
the Le joshua cd is killer, more than killer. It was produced by non other than Oedipus's own Pat "rick james" Enzor. The new This Song is a Mess EP is also amazing. what the fuck is happening in the south bay? maybe somebody put some crazy shit in the water that makes all the music good.
Foot foot are about 90% done with their Oedipus debut. we're almost like a real label.
